DANZA Dance Student Organization
Danza is a student dance organization at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. All members are students at the University of Florida, but are not necessarily studying dance in school. DANZA incorporates many forms of dance in its classes and shows, including ballet, tap, jazz, funk/hip-hop, pointe, modern and lyrical. DANZA has even been known to perform some Latin and African dance styles. |

The History of DANZA
DANZA was created in the fall semester of 1999 by Karla Gomez, a dance major, who wanted to open up oppurtunities to all dancers, even those who were not dance majors. The first semester had only 10 members, and now membership is up to 30! DANZA worked very hard the first three semesters to get a revenue of costumes and finally received funding from the University of Florida's Student Government in the Spring 2001 semester. Now that DANZA has become an official student organization, it has become a well known dance organization around campus.
